Q: What is Daxie Den Dog Boarding?

A: Daxie Den Dog Boarding is a professional dog boarding service that provides a comfortable and safe environment for dogs to stay in while their owners are away. We specialise in Miniature dachshunds and some other smaller breeds now and again.

Q: Are there any breed restrictions for dogs staying at Daxie Den Dog Boarding?

A: Daxie Den Dog Boarding specialises in Miniature Dachshunds mainly, we do occasionally take on other smaller breeds. Please reach out to us and we are happy to discuss if we can accommodate for your dog. All dogs do require up to date on their vaccinations/flea/wormer.

Q: Does my dog need to be neutered?

A: We take dogs which are neutered and unneutered. Although it is worth noting that any male dog over 18 months must be neutered, this change is affective from the 1st of August 2025. It is worth noting, if a male under 18months shows signs of consistent humping or marking, we will suspend until neutered. We will only be taking on owners who have an intention to Neuter.

Q: Can I tour the facility before booking my dog’s stay?

A: Yes, once the initial walk (Meet and Greet) meeting has took place and you are happy to proceed with us, we are happy to show you around our home when you booked in for day care or come for your trial night.

Q: What should I bring with me when dropping off my dog at Daxie Den Dog Boarding?

A: You should bring your dog’s food, any medications that they need to take, and any other items that will make their stay more comfortable, such as their favorite toy or blanket. We recommend bringing their dog bed, something which smells of you for comfort and any treats or toys you wish for your dog to have.

Q: What kind of care will my dog receive while staying at Daxie Den Dog Boarding?

A: Your dog will receive attentive care in our home. They will have plenty of time to play, snuggle and will be treated like apart of our pack. We will send you plenty of pup dates so you can see how your dog is getting on.

Q: How can I book my dog’s stay at Daxie Den Dog Boarding?

A: You can contact us directly at Daxie Den, we will arrange a initial dog walk to meet your dog and for you to get to know us. Then we can discuss the best options for your dog to settle into the pack and our home. We will only take dogs which have had a minimum of 2 day care sessions and a successful trial nights stay as a minimum.

Once complete, we can then book in your dogs holiday. Please note, for dogs which have any anxiety, or have not spent anytime away from their home environment, we do recommend further day care to that your dog can settle into the Daxie Den pack without any stress.

We always put the dogs needs first and if a dog does not settle, we will refuse the dog to book in their holidays. We do require information packs to be filled in prior to any stay with us. We require your dog’s vaccination records, your dogs details and routine, vet details, and emergency contact details.

Q: What kind of accommodations are available for dogs at Daxie Den Dog Boarding?

A: We have multiple options when it comes to where your dog will sleeep. We will be flexible to suit your dogs needs. We have pens, cages, different rooms, shared rooms, we will do whatever is best for your dog and whatever option you would prefer. Please note, we do not let dogs sleep in our bed or allow them upstairs.

Q: Will my dog be supervised at all times while at Daxie Den Dog Boarding?

A: Yes, your dog will be supervised when free roaming in our home at all times while at Daxie Den Dog. We may need to leave your dog for short periods of time but they will be secured and not allowed to socialise with any other dogs from different households at that time. We will monitor your dog’s behavior and ensure that they are safe and comfortable.

Q: Can Daxie Den Dog Boarding administer medication to my dog?

A: Yes, Daxie Den Dog Boarding can administer medication to your dog as long as you provide clear instructions and the necessary medication. Additional costs may be applicable.

Q: What happens if my dog becomes ill or injured while staying at Daxie Den Dog Boarding?

A: If your dog becomes ill or injured while staying at Daxie Den, they will receive prompt medical attention. They will contact you or your designated emergency contact to inform you of the situation. Our registered Vet is Sherriff Hill, which is in Washington and Gateshead

Q: Will my dog be able to socialise with other dogs while staying at Daxie Den Dog Boarding?

A: Yes, your dog will have plenty of opportunities to socialise with our resident dogs and other dogs on holiday at the time. Please note we have a cap on the number of dogs we will accomdate for.

Q: What is the check-in and check-out process at Daxie Den Dog Boarding?

A: The check-in and check-out process at Daxie Den Dog Boarding is quick and easy. You will need to fill out some paperwork before your stay, provide your dog’s vaccination records, and pay any fees. When you pick up your dog, you will need to settle any remaining fees and sign them out of our care. You will be provided with a report sheet which will state how your dogs stay has gone, including feeding, toliet, sleeping, medical and behaviour observed.

Q: What happens if I need to cancel my dog’s stay at Daxie Den Dog Boarding?

A: If you need to cancel your dog’s stay at Daxie Den Dog Boarding, you should notify them as soon as possible. Please see our cancellation policy for further details.

Q: Can I bring my dog’s own bedding and toys?

A: Yes, you are welcome to bring your dog’s own bedding and toys to Daxie Den. This can help your dog feel more comfortable and relaxed during their stay.

Q: How often will my dog be taken outside while at Daxie Den Dog Boarding?

A: Dogs at Daxie Den are taken outside multiple times per day for potty breaks and exercise. The frequency of outdoor breaks will depend on your dog’s individual needs.

Q: What if my dog has special needs or requires special care?

A: Daxie Den can accommodate dogs with special needs or those who require special care. They will work with you to create a customised plan that meets your dog’s individual needs. Additional costs may be applicable.

Q: Can I check on my dog while they are staying at Daxie Den Dog Boarding?

A: Yes, you can check on your dog while they are staying at Daxie Den. We are happy to send daily updates, videos and photos of your dogs adventures.

Q: How far in advance should I book my dog’s stay at Daxie Den?

A: It’s recommended to book your dog’s stay at Daxie Den as far in advance as possible to ensure availability. During peak seasons, such as holidays, it’s best to book even earlier. Please note that we can not reserve any bookings with deposit until trial stays are successful.

Q: Is there an age limit for dogs at Daxie Den Dog Boarding?

A: Daxie Den typically accepts dogs that are at least 12 weeks old and have had their required vaccinations. However, we do have limited availability for puppies due to the extra time and care needed. We have no age limit on the dogs we board.

Q: Will my dog be walked on a leash while at Daxie Den Dog Boarding?

A: Yes, all dogs at Daxie Den will be walked on a leash/long line to ensure their safety and the safety of others.
