Welcome to Daxie Dens, a home away from home for Miniature Dachshunds and smaller breeds!
Our passion for these delightful little pups inspired us to create a safe and comfortable space where they can feel at ease while their owners are away.
At Daxie Dens, we know that small dogs require special care and attention. That’s why we focus on providing a boarding experience tailored specifically to the needs of dachshunds and other small breeds. We believe that every dog deserves the best, and we strive to provide just that.
Our business was inspired by our very own dachshunds, Saffi, Ruby & Emmi.
As dachshund owners, we know firsthand how important it is to find a safe and loving environment for our furry friends when we’re away.
We understand the unique needs of these little dogs and are committed to providing the highest quality care possible.
We are dog lovers who are dedicated to ensuring that every dog who stays with us feels right at home. We offer home stays, which means that the dogs will be in our house environment and treated like our own dogs. This means lots of snuggles, playtime, and attention.
We take great pride in providing a experience for each dog that stays with us. We understand that every dog is different and we are committed to providing the best possible care for each and every one.

Meet The Team
Despite being the alpha, Ruby never shows any signs of aggression or dominance towards other dogs. She’s a natural leader who leads with love, and her gentle and playful nature has made her a beloved member of the Daxie Den community.
Now six years old, Ruby continues to inspire those around her and melts the hearts of those she spends time with. She has caused many friends and family to get their own Dachshund. She’s a true testament to the joy and love that a furry friend can bring into our lives. And we should add, we love her very much, she is simply the families Ruby Duby!
Despite her shyness (and barking), Saffi is always up for a game of fetch or a good run around the field and she loves the beach (she’s a true water baby)!
She’s a bundle of energy and enthusiasm, and her playful spirit is contagious. Saffi is a wonderful addition to our family and makes us smile every day with her playful antics and loving personality.
Emmi – Chief Treat Taster
At the end of 2023, our lively pack welcomed a new member, Emmi, a bundle of energy and enthusiasm.
Emmi quickly stole our hearts with her infectious zest for life. From the moment she bounded into the den, her playful spirit lit up the room. With her loveable personality and insatiable curiosity, Emmi is always ready for a game of fetch or a game of chase.
But Emmi isn’t just all about play—she’s also a connoisseur of treats! With her keen sense of taste and discerning palate, she ensures that every snack served in the den meets the highest standards of deliciousness. Whether it’s a crunchy biscuit or a savory chew, Emmi is on hand to guarantee that every treat is paw-sitively perfect.
As the newest member of our pack, Emmi is eager to learn and explore. She’s excited to join in on meet-and-greets, where she can make new friends and share her boundless enthusiasm with others. With each wag of her tail and playful bounce, Emmi brings a sense of joy and excitement to the den.

The Humans!
We are Jamie and Sarah, we are thrilled to be the human slaves to our wonderful dachshunds!
We have both grown up surrounded by animals of all shapes and sizes, and have always had a deep love and respect for our furry friends.
We believe that pets are not just animals, but valuable members of the family, and yes our daxies are our kids!
We started Daxie Den, as we were always asked to have dogs whilst our friends/family were on holiday, so we thought why not….and with that Daxie Den was born!
It is worth saying we are dachshund mad and we are dedicated to providing the best care and love to our doggy guests.
We have spent alot of time ensuring we follow all guidance to ensure we can offer the best service. Plus we understand the quirky personalities of Dachshunds (that’s why we love them).
We both have different canine qualifications that make us uniquely suited to the task of being their human slaves.
Our qualifications include Canine First Aid to Canine Behaviour.

Meet Jamie – The Energetic One of Daxie Den
Jamie started Daxie Den with a unique background as a British Army veteran. Although he didn’t grow up with dogs, it didn’t take long for Jamie to fall head over heels for our furry guests, as his love started with Ruby, our first Daxie! He’s a total sucker for the dogs in our care—especially the boys in the pack—and has quickly become their best buddy.
Jamie’s passion for fitness is undeniable. Whether it’s taking part in ultra-marathons or tackling any physical challenge he can find, he’s always on the move. Naturally, this energy translates perfectly to his role at Daxie Den, where long walks and active playtime with the dogs are right up his alley.
But it’s not all go-go-go with Jamie. After a day of walks and training sessions, you’ll often find him snuggled up on the sofa with his new dog pals, enjoying some well-earned downtime. His warmth, dedication, and playful spirit make him a perfect fit for the Daxie Den family—and a favourite among our four-legged guests.
Meet Sarah – The Heart of Daxie Den
Sarah has been surrounded by dogs her entire life and can’t imagine a world without them. Growing up with her family’s Labrador, Tara, Sarah quickly learned how much joy and love dogs bring to our lives. Over the years, her family’s journey with dogs led to owning Akitas—a challenging but rewarding breed—and later Labradors, Cockers, and a Westies.
Sarah’s passion for dogs started early. As a junior handler from the age of 12, she loved taking her dogs into the show ring and learning everything about canine behaviour. When Sarah got her own home, Ruby, her first Dachshund, joined the family—and the Daxie craze began!
With a lifetime of experience caring for a variety of breeds, Sarah is well-equipped to offer advice and recommendations, including evidence-based training tips or trusted trainers. She believes that building a great relationship with dogs comes down to understanding their language, even if it takes time and effort.
Dogs are more than a passion for Sarah—they’re her world. Strike up a conversation with her about them, and you’ll soon discover her enthusiasm is infectious (and endless)! Her deep knowledge and love for dogs make her an invaluable part of Daxie Den.

Our Home
It is important to know where your dogs will be staying whilst you enjoy your break away.
Our home has a secure garden that provides a safe and comfortable environment for all furry friends. Our home is located in Washington, Tyne & Wear. We have a beautiful river nearby, plenty of grassy areas and duck ponds which offers plenty of opportunities for lovely long walks with plenty to sniff and explore.
Our guests will be treated like our own dogs and have plenty of time for snuggles on the sofa. We take great care to ensure that all of our furry guests feel right at home and have everything they need to be comfortable during their stay.
